Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers

Now I'm back. I did go to see the sapsuckers. Stood there on the sidewalk for about 10 minutes watching them jump from pod to juicy pod on the kapok tree. Then, on a branch, I saw a single woodpecker (I thought). It wasn't until I got back to the Coffee Plantation and looked up sapsuckers that I realized that they are all woodpeckers. The one I saw was probably a male, larger and differently-colored.

The three kapok trees in front of the Government Center are truly quite impressive to see. There are also a couple at the County Administration building on Whitehead Street as well, favorites for tourist photos, along with the U.S. 1 Zero Mile marker a short distance away.

Just a Key West moment.
