TMI (Too Much Information)

I'm in a zone of information overload right now, which is seriously impacting my ability to post new material here. But I couldn't let this pass, it's too good.

In a page one commentary, Key West the Newspaper publisher Dennis Reeves Cooper , in an article headlined, "Julio Documented As a Lyin' Sack. Again.", Copper imagines this phone call from a Commissioner to the City Manager:

Yo, Julio! I was just thinking about your contract. I know that it doesn't expire for another 15 months, but if you don't mind, I would like to sponsor and early extension for you. And let's get it out of the way before that new bunch of Commissioners come in. And we'll pile on more money and some perks. Is that OK with you?"

Julio is City Manager Julio Avael. He was going to put a three year contract extension for himself on the Commission agenda for September 7, but pulled it when a firestorm erupted over whether it was his own idea, or something that he was encouraged to do by three of the six Commissioners -- Oosterhoudt, Bethel, and Menendez. Avael faced off against two of the three at Wedneday night's meeting and got into an angry shouting match (read down the page). with Commissioner Bethel over who was telling the truth. It took Mayor Weekley several minutes to regain control of the meeting.

There's a slightly longer piece over at Solares Hill's front page.

This Board of Commissioners is badly divided and needs to be replaced. Five out of seven would be a good start.
