New Year's Eve

As planned, we welcomed in 2006 at a house party given by Roger and Robert at their home on Elizabeth Street. We met some new people there, interesting people, and enjoyed sitting around talking on R&R's charming patio deck. It's been decorated further since we were last there, with things that Roger finds at yard sales and restores to function and form. Since leaving his previous job at the Butterfly Conservatory, Roger has found his perfect niche, working a couple of days a week doing garden work at an estate home on Southard Street, and picking up odd jobs here and there, where his talents and skills can be put to good use. Robert, meanwhile, works at Evan and Elle on Duval Street selling upscale clothing.

Sharon, just back from a Christmas holiday in Cornwall, England, joined us. Later we stopped by at the Green Parrot hoping to listen for a while to Rockin' Jake, but we couldn't get any closer to the stage than on the sidewalk outside. Jake's wife Christie was out there so we talked to her for a few minutes, then headed home at about 2 AM. Jake and the band will be doing a matinee performance at the Parrot this afternoon, and move on to Schooner Wharf for a one-night-only performance at there from 7 until 11. We'll probably be at both of those.

Hey, it's hard work, but it must be done, and we're the ones to do it.
