Out-migration from the Keys

An instructive article from the Orlando Sentinel.

I've been talking about housing with a number of people over the past few days. I talked with Red on Saturday at the Coffee Plantation. He said, soon after the last hurricane, Wilma, that we'd begin to see the fallout in about six months. It's been three months now, and it begins to show up already. The Sentinel article reflects the difficulties that businesses are having getting and keeping reliable help, and explains the reasons why.

This is likely to get worse as post-hurricane angst (and pre-hurricane jitters) cause more and more people to abandon their dreams of living in the Keys.

This is a developing story and is likely to grow throughout the rest of the year.
