Key West Music Festival

Key West is a music town, no doubt about it. Seven days a week, day or night, there's live music playing somewhere. The Green Parrot, Sloppy Joe's, Hog's Breath, Captain Tony's, Irish Kevin's, The Bull, Willie T's, Virgilio's and a few others out in the tourist zone of Duval Street. Schooner Wharf, Conch Republic Restaurant and B.O.'s make musical noise in the Key West Bight area. Harpoon Harry's was on the list, but now that Little Boy Flowers has moved to California, I'm not sure. Then there's the Symphony, the Paradise Big Band, the Opera Society, the Keys Chorale. For kids, there's Keys Kids, Steel Your Heart Band, Bahama Village Music Program and the high school band and orchestra.

Music everywhere, any time.

Now there are rumors of a major music festival being prepared for nex year, in January. It isn't official yet, but the rumors speak of names such as James Taylor; Tom Rush's Club 47 concerts which have featured established acts like Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Richie Havens and Joan Baez, and have helped newcomers like Nanci Griffith, Alison Krauss, Mark O'Connor and Shawn Colvin to begin to build their own careers; Willie Nelson; Crosby, Stills and Nash; Dylan; Don McLean. The list of possibilities grows by the week. When asked about a specific act, the promoter will only say, "we can neither confirm not deny ...". We should know more by the Fall.
