The Beatings Will Continue ......

... until morale improves.

So reads the headline on mayoral candidate Sloan Bashinsky's latest posting to his cock-a-doodle-doo web log at Good Morning Key West, the most widely visible and accessible sign of his candidacy. When he last ran for Mayor in 2003, he garnered 34 votes. He expects to do better this time.

His writings, which he disseminates widely via e-mail and posts to the daily cock-a-doodle-doo, are very self-revelatory. He holds strong opinions on many of the serious issues being faced by Key West voters. I don't think that his candidacy is being taken seriously by many people this time around either, but he's the one candidate who is speaking very clearly about what he believes should be done and what he will do if elected.

Here is a link to his posting for today, Friday, September 21; see what you think. Here's a small sample:
“You see, don’t you Sloan, that a lot of bad karma built up. What you might not see, though, so we will help you see it, is that a way to get rid of bad karma is to do good things for other people. You know, like tithing. Except, like tithing in reverse. Give ninety percent, instead of ten. I read somewhere in some book written by some guru from some place I never heard of in India that the more you give, the more you get. Or was it in a church somewhere that I heard that? It’s been a long time, way back in another life, but you get my point. It’s just something they have to do down in Key West to feel okay about themselves.
